Chapter 4

The weekend arrived with a heavy, humid sky that matched the thick, humming silence I’d been carrying around my apartment all week. I barely slept. I paced. I waited. When the key turned in the lock on Saturday afternoon, I was standing in the entryway before he’d even fully crossed the threshold. He looked exactly as I remembered: tall, broad-shouldered, wearing a dark button-down with the sleeves rolled to his forearms, his trousers crisp, his eyes already scanning me like he was assessing property. He didn’t say hello. He just stepped inside, kicked the door shut behind him, and said, “Just checking the place.”

I followed him like a puppy, bare feet silent on the hardwood, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. He moved with that slow, deliberate authority that always made my stomach twist. He started in the kitchen, running a long finger along the granite countertop, opening drawers, checking the stove, peering into the fridge as if he were cataloging my daily life. I watched his hands, the way they moved with purpose, and felt a flush rise up my neck. He didn’t speak. He just inspected. Then he moved to the bathroom, flicking on the light, pulling back the shower curtain, testing the faucet, nodding once like he’d found exactly what he expected. I trailed behind him, close enough to smell his cologne—sandalwood and something darker, something primal—and close enough to feel the heat radiating off his back. He checked the closet next, dragging the door open, running a hand over the hanging clothes, then the folded sweaters. He didn’t touch me. He didn’t need to. His presence was a weight, a claim. Then he stepped into the bedroom.

The room was simple, but it was mine. The bed was freshly made with crisp white sheets, the duvet folded neatly at the foot. He stopped in the center of the room, turned slowly, and looked at the bed. His eyes dropped to mine, then back to the mattress, and he said, “This is where you sleep?”

I nodded. My throat felt too tight for words.

He stepped forward, and before I could brace myself, his hand was on my shoulder, firm and unyielding, guiding me backward until my knees hit the edge of the mattress. He pushed. I fell back against the pillows, the new sheets cool against my legs, and watched him as he stood over me, unbuttoning his cuffs, rolling them up. He didn’t rush. He never rushed. He took his time, peeling off my jeans slowly, button by button, then the zipper, then the fabric itself, dragging it down over my hips and thighs until they pooled at my ankles. I kicked them off, lying there in just my top, my breath coming shallow as he crouched between my knees.

He looked at me for a long moment, his gaze dropping to my mouth, then lower, to where my shirt rode up, to the lace of my underwear. Then he hooked his fingers in the waistband and pulled them down, tossing them aside. I was already wet. I’d been wet since he walked in. He didn’t say a word. He just leaned forward, pressed his mouth to my pussy, and tasted me.

It was slow at first, a deliberate swipe of his tongue that made my back arch off the mattress. He took his time, mapping me with his mouth, his tongue pressing into my clit, then dipping lower, finding the slick heat that had been building for days. I gasped, my fingers tangling in the sheets, my hips instinctively rising to meet him. He held me down with one hand on my thigh, his grip firm, and ate me like he was claiming what was his. His mouth was wet, hot, relentless. He swallowed my sounds, my moans, my quiet whimpers, and I melted into the new sheets, the smell of him and me mixing in the air, thick and heavy. When he finally pulled back, his lips glistening, his eyes dark and hungry, I was trembling.

“I need to make sure my little girl is safe,” he murmured, his voice rough, echoing in the quiet room. He stood, unbuttoning his shirt, shrugging it off, then his trousers. He kicked them down, stepping out of his boxers, and stood there in just his trousers and socks for a second before pulling them off too. He was hard, thick, already leaking, and the sight of it made my mouth water. He climbed onto the bed, straddling my hips, his weight settling perfectly, his hands gripping my waist as he aligned himself with my entrance.

He didn’t thrust right away. He pressed forward, slow and deliberate, letting me feel every inch as he pushed inside me, stretching me, filling me. I gasped, my nails digging into his forearms. He paused, buried to the hilt, and looked down at me, his eyes locked on mine. “Good girl,” he said, and the words sent a jolt straight to my core. Then he began to move.

It was deep, rhythmic, each pull and thrust deliberate, claiming, possessive. The bed dipped and rose beneath us, the headboard scraping against the wall in a steady rhythm. I wrapped my legs around his waist, pulling him deeper, my hands gripping his shoulders, feeling the corded muscle tense with each drive. He set a pace that bordered on punishing, his hips slamming into mine, his breath hot against my neck, his mouth finding my collarbone, then my shoulder, then my lips. I kissed him, tasting myself on his tongue, my moans muffled against his mouth. He pulled back just enough to watch me, his eyes dark, his jaw tight, as he fucked me through the new sheets, the sound of skin on skin, the creak of the bed, the wet slap of our joining filling the room.

He came first, his body locking, a low groan tearing from his throat as he spilled inside me, hot and thick, pulse after pulse. I followed seconds later, my orgasm ripping through me, my inner muscles clamping down on him, milking him dry, my back bowing off the mattress as I cried out into his shoulder. He stayed buried, breathing hard, his weight pressing me into the pillows, his hand sliding up to cradle my cheek. He kissed my forehead, then my lips, slow and possessive.

“Told you I’d check,” he murmured, his voice rough but calm. “Everything’s secure. You’re safe.” He rolled to the side, pulling me against him, one arm locking around my waist, his hand resting possessively on my hip. I didn’t argue. I didn’t need to. The sheets were already wrinkled, already marked with us, and I knew, with absolute certainty, that I belonged to him now.
