The Couch

The ice clinked against the glass. Just one more step away. I pressed my palm flat against the bedroom door, holding my breath until my lungs burned. The floorboards groaned under her slippers, a familiar, sleepy sound that usually meant nothing. But tonight, it meant everything. She paused at the top of the stairs, the hallway light catching the curve of her shoulder, and I swear I felt my whole body lock.

A near-miss, sharp and electric, shot through me. Then she turned, the door clicked shut, and the house exhaled. Dad’s hand found my wrist, warm and sure, and pulled me into the hallway. His thumb brushed my pulse point, feeling the frantic rhythm there. We didn’t speak. We didn’t need to.

The air between us was thick, heavy with the unspoken promise of what we’d almost been caught doing. He led me down the hall, his grip firm, toward the living room. The place where we used to pile up on the big floral couch after dinner, him reading the paper while I traced the patterns on the quilt. Now, he sat, still in his dress pants and button-down, and pulled me down onto his lap. I straddled him, the denim of his trousers rough against my thighs, and immediately felt it—the thick, heavy weight of him pressing against my center. It wasn’t a boy’s tentative excitement; it was a man’s full, desperate need.

He looked up at me, his dark eyes heavy-lidded, and leaned in. His lips met the sensitive spot just below my ear, and a shiver raced down my spine. His hand slid under the hem of my silk camisole, calloused fingers tracing the curve of my waist, up to the underside of my breast. I arched into him, a soft moan slipping past the seam of my teeth before I could stop it. He caught my mouth with his palm, pressing it gently but firmly against my lips, silencing me. His other hand stayed right where it was, thumb circling my nipple through the thin fabric.

Upstairs, the floorboard creaked. Mom. Right there. Just above us. The sound sent a fresh jolt of adrenaline through my veins. Every breath, every shift, every sigh could give us away.

He didn’t pull his hand away. He just pressed his palm over my mouth, his body stilling mine, and let me feel the quiet power of him holding me there. He kissed my neck again, harder this time, his teeth grazing the cord of muscle before his tongue soothed it. His fingers slid down, under the waistband of my boy shorts, and found me wet. I gasped against his palm, muffled, and he pressed me closer to his thigh so I wouldn’t bounce. His fingers were sure, sliding through my slick heat, circling, stretching me.

I bit down on his shoulder through his dress shirt, the fabric rough against my teeth, and let out a low, broken whimper. He worked me slowly at first, two fingers gliding in and out, the stretch perfect, the friction maddening. I could feel the pulse in his wrist, steady and strong. Every time his thumb brushed my clit, my hips jerked instinctively. The house was quiet except for our breathing and the soft, wet sounds of his fingers in me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, my legs tightening around his waist, and let him take me.

He kept me quiet with that firm hand, his breath hot against my collarbone, his other hand splayed against my lower back to keep me pressed down. I came quickly, the tension snapping, my body shuddering against him. He held me through it, fingers still working, riding out my tremors until I collapsed against his chest, panting. He didn’t move away. He just kept his hand inside me, feeling me soften, his thumb wiping a stray drop from my thigh. “Ready?” he murmured, his voice a low rumble I felt in my bones. I nodded, too breathless to speak.

He stood, one arm under my knees, the other behind my back, and carried me up the stairs. The hallway felt longer, the shadows deeper. He pushed my bedroom door open with his hip and laid me down on the rumpled sheets. I watched him shed his jacket, unbutton his shirt, and kick off his shoes. The moonlight caught the planes of his chest, the familiar scent of his cologne mixing with the musk of him. He climbed in beside me, the mattress dipping, and pulled me on top of him.

His mouth found mine, deep and demanding, his tongue sweeping my mouth as his hand slid down to grip my hip. He flipped me onto my back, his weight settling over me, and I spread my legs for him. He didn’t hesitate. He pushed my shorts down, his fingers following, and sank two inside me. I gasped, arching my back, and he kissed my throat, his hand moving in slow, deliberate strokes. He rolled his hips against mine, the friction electric, and I wrapped my arms around his shoulders, pulling him closer. “Dad,” I whispered, the word foreign and perfect on my tongue.

He groaned, his grip tightening, and drove inside me in one smooth thrust. I cried out, muffled by his shoulder, as he filled me completely. The stretch was perfect, familiar yet new, and he held still, letting me adjust, his breath hot against my neck. Then he started to move. Slow at first, deep and steady, each thrust hitting that sweet spot inside me. I wrapped my legs around his waist, heels digging into the small of his back, and he groaned, his pace quickening.

The couch was gone. This was just us, skin against skin, the quiet house around us. He kissed my jaw, my cheek, my lips, his eyes never leaving mine. Every time he thrust, I felt it deep in my core, a building pressure that made my toes curl. His hand slid up to cup my breast, thumb brushing my nipple, and I arched, crying out his name. He picked up the pace, his hips snapping against mine, the wet sound of our joining filling the room.

I could feel his breath hitch, his muscles bunching, and I knew he was close. I squeezed around him, milking him, and he groaned, driving deep, holding himself there as he came. His heat flooded me, wave after wave, and I rode it out, my body trembling against his. He collapsed on top of me, his weight comforting, his breath ragged against my collarbone. We stayed like that for a long time, the quiet settling back over the house, the near-miss forgotten, replaced by something heavier, something permanent. He kissed my forehead, his fingers tracing idle patterns on my hip, and whispered, “Again tomorrow.” I smiled against his chest, already knowing I’d be waiting.
