The air in the marina was thick with the scent of salt water, expensive cologne, and the faint, sweet smoke of distant fireworks popping in the night sky. Above us, the water of the harbor was a mirror of chaos and beauty, reflecting the neon lights of the Christmas boat parade as they drifted slowly past the docks.
