Chapter 6

The air inside the private lounge still hummed with the residual energy of the carnival, a low-frequency vibration that matched the throbbing in my lower back. We had escaped the cacophony of screaming children and blaring calliope music, retreating into this dimly lit, velvet-draped sanctuary that felt worlds away from the neon-soaked chaos outside. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of the amusement park, a kaleidoscope of spinning lights and ghostly tracks, but I couldn’t look away from him. He was looming over me, a silhouette of broad shoulders and contained power, having just helped me out of my stiff, formal dress. The silk pooled at my feet, a discarded skin, leaving me bare and exposed in the cool air of the room. I sat on the edge of the large, plush velvet couch, my legs trembling slightly from the adrenaline of the day and the electric tension that had been building between us for hours. He watched me, his eyes dark and heavy, devouring my nakedness with a hunger that made my stomach flip. I could feel his gaze on my ass, the way it rose and fell as I breathed, the anticipation coiling tight in my belly.
